City targets Barrio Logan spa after workers offer sex to undercover officers
A San Diego Police cruiser File photo by Chris Stone Times of San Diego San Diego is seeking to shut down a Barrio Logan massage parlor that it alleges provided inappropriate services including prostitution The assertions at Green Massage Spa include multiple instances of employees offering to sell sex to undercover police officers according to the San Diego City Attorney s Office Through a civil enforcement complaint the city is seeking to shutter the spa assessing civil penalties of per day for alleged violations Multiple reports of prostitution-related activity occurring at the massage parlor flowed in to both the San Diego Police Department and Naval Criminal Investigative Institution They led to a joint probe with the city which revealed at least four separate occasions in which an employee of the spa offered sex services to undercover officers the City Attorney s Office reported The city also insists law enforcement has identified separate advertisements and online reviews promoting sexual acts at the business Despite being warned by the city to halt the alleged prostitution it wasn t stopped officers stated Outside of the sexual-related claims the city s complaint asserts that city inspectors discovered multiple code violations at the business such as unpermitted electrical and plumbing modifications In a declaration City Attorney Heather Ferbert declared This situation isn t just about shutting down an illegal business it s about protecting vulnerable people from harm and exploitation She also announced the inquiry into the Barrio Logan business points to a serious pattern of criminal behavior that has no place in any neighborhood
